As far as Imports are concerned the Company is importing various Products and supplying to different customers in different locations. The following are the different products which are imported from China
Carbon Additive derived from Anthracite coal is being supplied to foundries and steel plants which is being used for addition of carbon. Earlier the foundries were using Coconut Shell Charcoal for carbon Pick up.The carbon pick up in Coconut shell Charcoal is only about 45 to 50%. This was creating lot of pollution and the cost of the end product was also going high. Hence the foundries started using Carbon Additive. The carbon pick up in Carbon Additive is about 90-93%. There is no pollution and the cost is also very less when compared to Coconut Shell Charcoal. In steel plants Carbon Additive is used during the process of melting. Adding Carbon Additive during the melting process will help to attain the liquid form
fastly. To sum up Carbon Additive which is imported from China is used in foundries
and steel plants for the above purpose.
Ferrosilicon is an alloy of iron and silicon with an average silicon content between 15 and 90 weight percent. It contains a high proportion of iron silicides. Ferrosilicon is produced by reduction of silica or sand with coke in the presence of iron. Typical sources of iron are scrap iron or millscale. Ferrosilicons with silicon content up to about 15% are made in blast furnaces lined with acid fire bricks. Ferrosilicons with higher silicon content are made in electric arc furnaces. The usual formulations on the market are ferrosilicons with 15%, 45%, 75%, and 90% silicon. The remainder is iron, with about 2% consisting of other elements like aluminium and calcium. Ferro manganese is an alloy of iron and manganese containing usually about 80% manganese. Ferro manganese is used mainly to counteract the bad effects of sulfur. It also acts as a deoxidizer and combines with sulfur, thereby improving the hotworking properties of the product. It imparts metallurgical properties such as increased strength, hardness toughness and hardenability. Ferromanganese, a ferroalloy with high content of manganese, is made by heating a mixture of the oxides MnO2 and Fe2O3, with carbon, usually as coal and coke, in either a blast furnace or an electric arc furnace-type system, called a submerged arc furnace.
